Most people shop for a robot mower in spring, when the grass is long and the lawn is a chore. Fall has a case of its own. Brands run sales, there is time to set up properly, and a mower mapped in October is ready for the first mow of the next season. This guide covers what we know about fall pricing, what to do with the mower over winter, and four wire-free models worth looking at. We have not verified any Black Friday 2026 offers, so every price below is a listed range from our database as of October 2026. Check today’s price before you buy.
What do we know about fall robot mower pricing?
Less than we would like, and we’ll be clear about it. Our Black Friday guide for robot mowers pulls together what 9to5Toys reported:
- November 2025: Navimow cuts of up to $700, Mammotion cuts of up to 35 percent and Husqvarna Automower cuts of roughly 30 percent at Amazon.
- October 8, 2026: Segway Navimow’s Fall Sale, which began with Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days, had the i206 AWD at $849 against a $999 regular price and the i215 LiDAR at $1,329 against $1,599. Both were sold out at Amazon at the time.
- The same report said the Navimow X4 robots saw no cuts in that sale.
The lesson is not that fall is always cheaper. It is that a brand can discount one line and leave another alone, and that a sale on your model is a bet. We have no 2026 Black Friday prices. If the mower you want is in stock at a fair price now, that may be as good as November. If you can wait, note the regular price and compare. Black Friday 2026 is November 27.
Why buy in fall at all?
The grass is usually still growing. In much of the country you can map the yard, run the first mows and fix problems before winter. A mower bought in April has to be set up in the busiest week of the lawn season.
You can fix setup problems at leisure. Our setup guide says to expect to adjust the map and schedule during the first two weeks. Doing that in October means those two weeks are not spent with the lawn growing faster than the mower can cut.
You have a head start on spring. A mapped mower with a tested dock can be switched on at the first mow of the year, rather than starting from the box.
The warranty and return clocks. Check both. If the return window ends before spring, test thoroughly now. A purchase in October may be past the window by April unless the seller extends it, so read the terms on your listing.
Which robot mowers should you look at?
Choose the mower for your lawn first, then watch for its price. Our best robot lawn mowers of 2026 is the full ranking, best robot mower by lawn size matches the rated area to your yard and our size matcher finds the cheapest tier that covers it.
| Model | Rated area | Slope rating | Navigation | Price in our data |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD | 0.37 to 1.25 acres by tier | 80% | LiDAR, network RTK and vision | $2,109 to $3,299 |
| Segway Navimow X4 | 1 acre (X430), 1.5 acres (X450) | 84% | Network RTK and vision | $2,499 to $2,999 |
| Dreame A3 AWD Pro | 0.62 to 1.24 acres by tier | 80% | LiDAR and vision, no satellites | $1,699 to $2,799 |
| Mammotion YUKA mini 2 | 0.25 acre | 45% | LiDAR and vision | $1,399 to $1,559 |
- Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD: the most capable all-rounder for difficult yards. No base station, no dead zones under trees, and AWD handles steep slopes. Our data notes the 3000 tier is often discounted below the 1500’s list price, so compare tiers before buying. Overkill on a flat suburban lawn.
- Segway Navimow X4: our best overall pick for typical US lawns from half an acre up. A 17 inch deck and 4WD cover ground fast. Dense canopy is a weaker spot than for LiDAR rivals, and it is the line that saw no cuts in the October sale.
- Dreame A3 AWD Pro: the pick for shaded yards where satellite positioning struggles, at prices that undercut the LUBA 3. Reviews are split, so budget time to tune the map.
- Mammotion YUKA mini 2: a capable LiDAR mower for flat-to-moderate small yards. Our data flags patchy US stock, and we say it is hard to recommend over rivals at similar prices that are in stock.
For head-to-heads, see LUBA 3 vs Navimow X4 and Dreame A3 AWD Pro vs LUBA 3 AWD. If your lawn is small and flat, our small flat yard comparison is the better starting point.
How do I match a model to my yard?
Three questions settle most of it.
How big is the lawn? Pick the tier whose rated area covers it with some margin. The LUBA 3 AWD comes in 1500, 3000 and 5000 tiers, and the Dreame A3 AWD Pro in 2500, 3500 and 5000 tiers, so a half-acre lawn does not need the biggest version.
How steep is it? Compare your steepest section with the slope rating, and treat the rating as a ceiling, not a target. The YUKA mini 2 is rated 45 percent, against 80 to 84 percent for the other three.
What is overhead? Heavy tree cover and tall walls hurt satellite positioning. The LUBA 3 AWD and the A3 AWD Pro use LiDAR for that reason, while the X4 leans on network RTK plus cameras. If your yard is shaded, that difference matters more than the price.
What about boundary wire?
None of these four needs a boundary wire. They use LiDAR, network RTK, cameras or a combination. Our guide to robot mowers without boundary wire explains the technologies and their weak spots. One point is seasonal: satellite and camera-based navigation can behave differently when the canopy fills in. Map in fall if you must, but check the signal and the map once the trees leaf out in spring. Navimow warns that changing its antenna location means creating a new map, so choose the spot carefully and mark it.
How do I set up a mower in fall?
Follow our setup guide in full. The short version:
- Mow short first. Robots trim a little often. They can’t take down long grass.
- Pick the dock spot. Power, signal, flat firm ground and, for RTK models, open sky.
- Map in daylight on dry grass, and stay a little inside hard edges.
- Mark no-go zones and channels, and keep clear of drop-offs. Check slopes against the rating with our slope limits guide.
- Run it for a few weeks and tune the schedule.
What do I do with it over winter?
Follow your maker. Our winter storage guide lays out the published steps. The brands agree on the core jobs: charge it, switch it off, clean it, check for wear and keep it and its dock dry. They disagree on the battery level. Husqvarna says to fully charge it, Navimow says at least 85 percent and Mammotion says about 80 percent for the LUBA 3 AWD. Do not borrow another brand’s number.
Husqvarna strongly advises storing the mower and dock indoors. Mammotion asks for indoor storage if winter temperatures regularly fall below -20 C (-4 F). Navimow says to store the mower between 5 and 45 C (41 to 113 F) in a dry, frost-free place. Winter is also the moment to replace blades, since the mower is open anyway. Our replacement blades guide covers it.
Is it cheaper than a lawn service?
Usually, if you would otherwise pay for weekly mowing. Our cost comparison puts service at roughly $1,200 to $2,400 a season and a robot mower’s running cost at about $80 a year, plus a battery in five years. Our worked 5-year examples come to $1,482 for a budget mower, $2,366 for mid-range and $3,582 for a premium one, against about $8,760 for $55-a-visit service. Run your own numbers in the cost calculator. Our lifespan guide covers the 5 to 10 years you can expect and the battery swap every 2 to 5 years.
Should you wait for Black Friday?
Buy now if the model is in stock at or near a documented low, you want to test before winter, or you are buying a line, like the X4, that missed the last sale. Wait if the model is well above its documented low and you can spare a few weeks. Waiting costs little once you have written down today’s price. It can’t promise a discount, because a brand can leave a whole line untouched.
Common questions
Is fall cheaper? Sometimes. Navimow ran a fall sale reported on October 8, but not on the X4.
Can I buy now and use it in spring? Yes. Test it first, then store it properly.
What if my yard has trees and hills? Look at the LUBA 3 AWD or the Dreame A3 AWD Pro first.
Bottom line
Fall is a reasonable time to buy a robot mower if you can use it before winter, test it while the return window is open and store it by your maker’s instructions. We have not verified any Black Friday 2026 offers, so compare any price with the regular price and the model’s recent low, not the badge.
