The verdict

Aggressively priced LiDAR mowers with a wide deck and big coverage tiers. The catch is that the cheaper models navigate on LiDAR alone unless you buy the camera module, and the 2WD chassis limits you to gentle slopes. Worth a look for large, flat lawns on a budget, but still lightly reviewed.

What we like

  • Cheapest route to 0.75 acre of LiDAR mowing (SE tier)
  • Wide 11" deck for the price
  • Quiet, with IPX6 and 4G GPS anti-theft

Watch out for

  • Camera obstacle avoidance and auto-mapping cost $339 extra below the Pro
  • 2WD with only a 45% slope rating
  • Little hands-on testing of the X2 so far

HOOKII Neomow X2 Series (X2 Air / SE / X2 / Pro) video review

Video by Half Chrome on YouTube. Independent creator content, shown as a reference. It is not part of our scoring.

The HOOKII Neomow X2 is the cheapest way to get LiDAR robot mowing on a large lawn: the SE covers three-quarters of an acre at a mid-range price, and the Pro stretches to 1.5 acres in the premium tier. It needs no RTK antenna, cuts an 11” swath and runs quietly. The catches are real, though: a two-wheel-drive chassis rated for gentle slopes only, camera features that cost extra below the Pro, and very little independent testing so far.

Who the Neomow X2 is for (and who should skip it)

The X2 makes sense for large, mostly gentle lawns where satellite mowers struggle: a big suburban lot with scattered mature trees, or a property where the house and outbuildings block much of the sky. Four tiers cover 0.37, 0.75, 1 and 1.5 acres, so there’s a size for most US yards.

Skip it if your yard is steep. A 45% rating (about 24°) is fine for mild grades but not for real hills, where the AWD Dreame A3 AWD or MOVA LiDAX Ultra AWD belong. Skip it if you want a mower with a long trail of independent reviews. And if your lawn is busy with toys and pets, factor in the vision module or step up to the Pro, which changes the value math.

All X2 models use a 360° 3D LiDAR scanner that HOOKII says outputs 10 times more point-cloud data than the first-generation Neomow X. There’s no RTK antenna to site and no satellite signal to lose, so trees and buildings shouldn’t throw it off. Our navigation explainer explains why LiDAR does well in shade.

Because LiDAR doesn’t need open sky, HOOKII encourages putting the charging station indoors. That’s a useful theft deterrent that RTK mowers can’t match, and it keeps the dock out of the weather. HOOKII says installation takes about five minutes.

How you map depends on the model. Only the X2 Pro auto-maps out of the box, because auto-mapping relies on the triple-vision camera. On the Air, SE and standard X2, you drive the boundary yourself in the app unless you add the optional vision module. Our setup guide has tips for manual mapping.

Mowing performance, slopes and terrain

HOOKII rates every X2 for 45% grade (24°) and lists front-wheel drive. That puts it level with mainstream 2WD LiDAR mowers like the Navimow i215, and well short of the 80% AWD crowd. Treat the rating as a best case for dry, short grass, and check your steepest section with the slope checker.

Obstacle handling is the bigger question. With the camera, HOOKII claims recognition of more than 500 obstacle types. Without it, the cheaper tiers rely on LiDAR and a 110° bumper, which means they detect objects by shape and contact rather than by recognizing them. LiDAR can see a garden gnome but may not see a thin hose or a small toy. We haven’t found independent testing of either configuration, so clear the lawn before runs and use no-go zones generously.

Coverage, cutting and edges

The 11” (28 cm) deck is wide for the price; most mowers under $1,500 cut 7” to 9”. HOOKII rates mowing speed at up to 3,200 sq ft per hour and runtime at about 150 minutes per charge (200 on the Pro), covering roughly 0.17 acre per charge (0.25 acre on the Pro). The mower returns to charge and resumes where it stopped. Cutting height adjusts electrically in the app from 1.18” to 3.35”, and HOOKII says the cutting system handles St. Augustine, Bermuda, bluegrass and ryegrass.

HOOKII doesn’t publish an edge-gap figure. It lists “seamless edge-cutting algorithms” among the features the vision module unlocks, which suggests edge results on the cheaper tiers are basic. Plan on regular string-trimmer passes along fences and beds.

App, connectivity and anti-theft

The HOOKII app handles maps, no-go areas, schedules, cutting height and speed, with three preset mowing modes plus a custom option. Amazon listings cite up to 30 zones on the Air and 90 on the X2. HOOKII listed dual-map storage and cloud map backup as arriving in the app after June 2026, so confirm they’re live if you need them.

HOOKII calls its anti-theft five-layer protection: indoor dock placement, a lift alarm, admin-only app access, GPS tracking through Find My Device (with remote locking, per the Amazon listing), and an email with the mower’s location if it reconnects after going offline. The listing describes 4G with “1GB free” data, and HOOKII doesn’t make clear what continued service costs. See our theft protection guide for more.

Ownership notes

  • Lightly reviewed: we haven’t found a full independent review of the X2. The reviews on HOOKII’s own store are uniformly five-star, which isn’t a substitute for independent testing.
  • Warranty and returns: HOOKII’s store advertises a two-year warranty and 30-day returns. Buying through Amazon gives you Amazon’s return window too.
  • Prices vary by store: our price tiers are based on Amazon US, October 2026. HOOKII’s own store has listed different tier names and higher prices, so compare before buying.
  • Weather: rated IPX6, below 58 dB, with a removable battery. HOOKII sells blades, discs and a rain cover.
  • Weight: about 37 lb (40 lb for the Pro), manageable for one person.

How the Neomow X2 compares

The Segway Navimow i215 LiDAR is the obvious rival on smaller lots: also LiDAR, also rated 45%, with an 8.7” deck and a camera as standard, in the mid-range tier at 0.37 acre. It costs more than the X2 Air but has well-documented reviews. The ECOVACS GOAT A LiDAR Pro covers 0.5 to 0.75 acre with dual LiDAR, a camera, a 50% rating and automatic edge trimming, also in the mid-range tier. It costs more than the SE, but it’s one of the best-reviewed mowers in our database.

Bottom line

The Neomow X2 offers big-lawn LiDAR coverage at prices nobody else matches, and the SE, with 0.75-acre coverage at a mid-range price, is the standout. Go in knowing the limits: gentle slopes only, LiDAR-only obstacle detection unless you pay for the camera, and almost no independent testing yet. For a large, flat, tree-dotted lawn on a budget, it deserves a look.

Neomow X2 FAQ

Does the HOOKII Neomow X2 need an RTK antenna or GPS signal?
No. Every Neomow X2 model navigates with a 360-degree 3D LiDAR scanner, with no RTK antenna or boundary wire. Because it doesn't depend on satellites, HOOKII even encourages installing the charging station indoors, such as in a garage, for theft protection. The mower does have GPS for its Find My Device tracking, which needs 4G or Wi-Fi to report its location.
Do I need the HOOKII vision module?
Only the X2 Pro includes the AI triple-vision camera. On the X2 Air, SE and standard X2, the optional add-on module adds auto-mapping, camera-based obstacle recognition (HOOKII cites more than 500 object models), photo monitoring and improved edge-cutting algorithms. Without it, the mower relies on LiDAR and a physical bumper to detect obstacles. If you have kids' toys, pets or garden clutter on the lawn, budget for it, and check its current price.
Can the Neomow X2 handle hills?
Gentle ones. HOOKII rates every X2 model for 45% grade, about 24 degrees, and lists the drive as front-wheel drive. That covers typical suburban lawns with mild grades, but not steep banks or hillsides. As with any rating, it assumes dry, short grass. If parts of your yard are steeper than about 24 degrees, look at an AWD mower instead.
Which Neomow X2 size should I buy?
On Amazon US in October 2026, the X2 Air (0.37 acre) sat in the budget tier, the SE (0.75 acre) and X2 (1 acre) in the mid-range, and the Pro (1.5 acres) in the premium tier. The SE is the standout value. For the Air, SE or X2, add the camera module if you want it, which narrows the gap to the Pro. Check today's prices before choosing.
