MOVA LiDAX Ultra AWD (2000 / 3000) video review
Video by Freshly Charged on YouTube. Independent creator content, shown as a reference. It is not part of our scoring.
The MOVA LiDAX Ultra AWD is a LiDAR-guided, all-wheel-drive robot mower for steep, cluttered yards up to three-quarters of an acre, and it’s the best-reviewed mower of its type so far. SlashGear called the 3000 AWD the most capable robot mower it has reviewed, and Freshly Charged said it handled a brutal test yard “without ever getting lost or needing intervention.” At its October 2026 sale prices (mid-range to premium), it undercuts most rivals with a similar spec sheet.
Who the MOVA LiDAX Ultra AWD is for (and who should skip it)
This mower is built for yards that defeat cheaper robots: real slopes, several separate zones, mature trees, gravel paths and concrete edging between sections. The 2000 AWD covers 0.5 acre and the 3000 AWD covers 0.75 acre, and both use the same 52 lb chassis with a 15.8” deck.
Skip it if your lawn is a flat, open rectangle. A network-RTK mower like the Segway Navimow X4 or a cheaper 2WD model will do that job for less. Skip it too if you have more than three-quarters of an acre in one map, because the sibling Dreame A3 AWD Pro and the LUBA 3 AWD go bigger. And if you want the most polished app in the category, MOVA isn’t there yet.
Navigation and setup
UltraView 3.0 combines a 360° 3D LiDAR scanner with two AI cameras and uses no RTK base station. Because LiDAR maps physical surroundings instead of listening for satellites, tree canopy and the side of your house don’t degrade its positioning. Our navigation explainer covers why that matters in shady yards.
Setup is simple by robot-mower standards. Freshly Charged’s Jimmy said that “if you can operate a microwave,” you can set it up: assemble and plug in the dock, pair the app and map. Freshly Charged found the AI-assisted auto mapping “performed fairly well” but still drove the boundary manually for precision, and SlashGear recommends manual mapping if your yard borders a neighbor’s lawn or a busy street. You can store two separate maps (MOVA says each can be as large as the mower’s rated area) and up to 150 zones, which suits front-and-back-yard properties.
Mowing performance, slopes and terrain
MOVA rates the AWD models for 80% grade (about 38.7°), driven by four hub motors, independent suspension and omni-wheels up front. It’s also rated to climb 2.4” vertical obstacles, which is what lets it cross concrete edging and gravel between zones without ramps.
The reviews back that up, with caveats. SlashGear reported that over weeks on a lumpy lawn the mower “has not yet gotten stuck once.” Freshly Charged pushed it up an overgrown, drought-stressed slope and saw it struggle for traction on one dry, steep patch before working through. The team called that a stress test rather than a failure. As always, slope ratings assume dry, short grass. Check your grades with our slope checker and read the slope limits guide before trusting any 80% figure.
The weight can show up on turf: a 52 lb AWD machine that pivots in place can leave some wear at turning points on soft or wet lawns. Its safety behavior near drop-offs is reassuring: SlashGear found it quickly detects when fewer than four wheels are on the ground, stops and asks for help.
Obstacle avoidance looks promising. MOVA claims recognition of over 300 object types, and SlashGear liked the adjustable avoidance distance (10, 15 or 20 cm) and height thresholds, though it’s still a young product with few long-term reports. Pick up toys and hoses before a run, and add no-go zones around anything fragile.
Coverage, cutting and edges
The dual floating discs carry six blades each across a 15.8” path, and MOVA claims up to 0.25 acre per charge with 150 to 170 minutes of runtime. Freshly Charged praised the clean, bold stripes from its U-shaped path planning. Cutting height adjusts electronically from 1.2” to 3.9”, a wider range than many rivals, which helps if you keep cool-season grass tall in summer.
Edges are a genuine strength. UltraTrim 2.0 slides the cutting discs outward to leave about a 1.2” border, and Freshly Charged confirmed the roughly 3 cm gap in practice. On flat borders the mower can straddle the edge directly. SlashGear’s warning is worth repeating: near steep drop-offs or very uneven edges, the mower can overshoot on a wide turn, so leave a buffer there. You’ll still want a string trimmer, just less often.
App, connectivity and anti-theft
Security is the most complete in this price range. You get location tracking, an off-map alarm that only stops with a PIN, lift alerts and AirTag compatibility. The TrueGuard features let the mower patrol the yard when it isn’t mowing, send photos when it detects a person, stream live video and play your voice through its speaker. SlashGear notes there’s no microphone, so it doesn’t record audio.
The app covers zones, schedules, patterns and progress, but Freshly Charged described the ecosystem as “still maturing” next to established brands. See our theft protection guide for ways to secure any mower.
Ownership notes
- 4G after year three: SlashGear reports renewal at €99 a year, arranged by emailing after-sales. US pricing is unconfirmed.
- Warranty: MOVA’s US store advertises up to a three-year warranty. Keep your proof of purchase.
- Pricing: MOVA’s October 2026 sale prices were well below list: mid-range for the 2000 AWD and premium for the 3000 AWD. Don’t pay list.
- Weight: at about 52 lb, carrying it between disconnected yards is a two-handed job. A second dock on the second map is an option.
- Rain and storage: MOVA sells a garage for the dock, and a cover helps keep the LiDAR and cameras clean between runs. See best robot mower garages and our maintenance guide.
How the MOVA LiDAX Ultra AWD compares
The closest rival is its near-twin, the Dreame A3 AWD Pro. It shares the LiDAR-plus-AWD hardware and 15.8” deck and reaches 1.24 acres, but its reviews have been more divisive. The Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD adds network RTK to LiDAR and covers up to 1.25 acres, at a higher price. Our Dreame A3 AWD Pro vs LUBA 3 AWD comparison applies to the MOVA too. If your lawn is under half an acre, the Dreame A3 AWD gives you LiDAR and AWD with a narrower 7.9” deck for less.
| LiDAX Ultra AWD | Dreame A3 AWD Pro | LUBA 3 AWD | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Navigation | LiDAR + vision | LiDAR + vision | LiDAR + network RTK + vision |
| Max area | 0.75 acre | 1.24 acres | 1.25 acres |
| Max slope | 80% (~39°) | 80% (~39°) | 80% (~39°) |
| Price tier | $$–$$$ | $$–$$$ | $$$–$$$$ |

Bottom line
For a steep, multi-zone yard up to three-quarters of an acre, the MOVA LiDAX Ultra AWD is one of the strongest buys of 2026. It combines LiDAR that ignores tree cover, AWD that climbs, a wide deck that mows fast and the best security kit at its price. Accept a younger app and plan for turf wear at turns and the occasional bump into a toy. Prices move often, so check the current deal.
