The verdict

A niche machine for terrain that defeats wheels: tracked, powerful and built for rough acreage. On a manicured suburban lawn it's the wrong tool.

What we like

  • Tank tracks handle extreme slopes and rough ground
  • Powerful 16" deck for big, rough lots
  • Aluminum frame and LiFePO4 battery

Watch out for

  • Needs an RTK base; manual mapping takes 30–45 minutes
  • Heavier and louder than wheeled robots
  • Left patches in Tom's Guide testing

Lymow One Plus (5A / 10A) video review

Video by Tech Man Pat on YouTube. Independent creator content, shown as a reference. It is not part of our scoring.

The Lymow One Plus is a tracked, 16”-deck robot mower built for terrain that defeats wheels: steep banks, rough pasture-like grass and overgrown rural lots. On those properties it has few real competitors. On a tidy, flat suburban lawn, its weight, noise, RTK base and manual mapping are costs you don’t need to pay. It sits in the premium price tier (October 2026).

Who the Lymow One Plus is for (and who should skip it)

It’s for owners of hilly, bumpy or rough acreage who would otherwise be on a riding mower or a string trimmer. It also suits people who let grass get long between cuts and want something with real rotary blades instead of razor discs.

Skip it if:

  • Your lawn is flat and well kept. A wheeled AWD robot like the Navimow X4 is quieter, lighter and easier to set up.
  • You can’t place an antenna with a clear sky view. It needs its RTK base station, and heavy tree cover will hurt accuracy.
  • You expect to replace your mower entirely. Even Tom’s Guide’s broadly positive reviewer said she wasn’t ready to retire her riding mower.

The One Plus combines RTK with VSLAM, AI vision and ultrasonic sensors. Unlike the antenna-free network-RTK mowers, it ships with its own RTK reference station, cabled to the dock, which needs an open view of the sky. Tom’s Guide’s reviewer moved the dock and antenna around before settling on the corner of her deck. TechAeris called antenna placement critical. Our navigation explainer covers why RTK cares so much about sky view.

Mapping is manual. You drive the mower around the perimeter like a remote-control car, using the app or the onboard screen, then mark no-go zones. Tom’s Guide spent about 20 to 30 minutes doing this for a roughly 6,800 sq ft yard with a shed, playset and trampoline, and said she actually enjoyed it. Budget 30 to 45 minutes for a larger or more complex property. The app supports up to 80 zones with their own heights and schedules, and the mower stuck to its boundaries and no-go areas in Tom’s Guide’s testing. Our setup guide has tips for planning zones and dock channels.

Mowing performance, slopes and terrain

The tracks are the reason this machine exists. Lymow rates the One Plus for 45°, which is a 100% grade. That’s a marketing ceiling measured on dry, short grass, not a safe everyday target. TechAeris reported the tracks provide “extraordinary traction, allowing the mower to climb steep 45-degree slopes and roll right over obstacles.” For context, the best wheeled robots are rated around 80–84%. See our slope limits explainer for how much margin to leave.

Cutting uses Lymow’s LyCut 2.0 system: steel rotary blades at up to 6,000 rpm instead of the small pivoting razors most robots use. TechAeris said it “actually lifts, cuts, and mulches thick grass and leaves like your push mower.” Tom’s Guide was more mixed. Starting on an unmowed spring lawn at a 4” height, the mower crossed thick patches easily but flattened some tufts and dandelion stems instead of cutting them, leaving patches behind. Her lawn still “looked professionally mowed, with even stripes,” but she concluded she’d need a manual mow every few weeks.

TechAeris also noted the obstacle sensor occasionally mistook sudden dips in the ground for obstacles at higher speeds.

Coverage, cutting and runtime

The 16” deck is one of the widest in this class, and the 1.2” to 4” cutting range covers tall fescue. Lymow quotes 1.1 acres per day for the 5A and 1.73 acres for the 10A, but those are daily figures across multiple charges. Per charge, figure on about 0.57 acre. TechAeris put realistic daily capacity at roughly half an acre. In Tom’s Guide’s 6,800 sq ft yard, one session took 104 minutes and used 124% of the battery, so it docked once mid-job.

The battery is a 15 Ah LiFePO4 pack, a chemistry known for long cycle life. TechAeris cites a 2,000-cycle rating. Recharging takes about 90 to 120 minutes with the 10A charger, or about 180 minutes with the 5A charger, per the two reviews.

App, connectivity and anti-theft

The app shows live position and progress, supports scheduling, cutting height, blade speed and mowing speed, and lets you back up and restore maps. Anti-theft features include geofence alerts, a device lock and live GPS tracking. Tom’s Guide’s spec box lists Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G. We haven’t been able to confirm the radio specs from Lymow directly, so check cellular support on the current listing if remote tracking matters to you. Our theft protection guide has more.

Ownership notes

  • Weight. About 78 lbs. Tom’s Guide said the box needed two people. Plan winter storage accordingly.
  • Noise. Both reviews describe it as noticeably louder than typical robots, though quieter than gas. Lymow doesn’t publish a dB figure.
  • Build. An aluminum frame and IPX6 rating suit a machine that lives outdoors on rough ground.
  • Install hassles. TechAeris had trouble driving the dock’s ground pegs into rocky soil.
  • Firmware. Expect updates early on. TechAeris noted a learning curve that improved with software updates.
  • Buying. Lymow has sold mainly direct. Amazon availability and pricing have varied, so compare before buying.

On a normal sloped lawn, the Segway Navimow X4 is the better buy at a similar price: antenna-free, quieter, lighter, with a wider deck and an 84% rating. The Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD adds LiDAR for yards with trees. The Husqvarna Automower 435 iQ AWD is the dealer-backed steep-yard option, at about twice the price with a much narrower deck. The Lymow wins only when the ground itself is the problem.

Bottom line

The Lymow One Plus is a specialist. If your property has steep banks, rough grass or terrain that strands wheeled robots, its tracks and real rotary blades make it one of the few robots worth trying, and TechAeris gave it a 9.7/10 Editor’s Choice for exactly that use. If your lawn is a manicured suburban rectangle, it’s the wrong tool. Both the 5A and 10A versions sit in the premium tier, so check today’s price.

Lymow One Plus FAQ

Can the Lymow One Plus really climb 45-degree slopes?
Lymow rates it for 45 degrees, which is a 100% grade. Treat that as a marketing ceiling measured on dry, short grass. Its tank tracks do give it far more traction than wheeled robots, and TechAeris reported it climbed steep slopes with ease. Still, mowing near drop-offs, retaining walls or ponds deserves caution on any mower.
Does the Lymow One Plus need an RTK base station?
Yes. It ships with an RTK reference station that connects to the dock by cable, and it needs a clear, open view of the sky. Tom's Guide found it took some trial and error to find a good spot, while TechAeris stressed that placement is critical. Pairing is simple: scan a QR code in the app and bind it.
How long does it take to map a yard with the Lymow One Plus?
Mapping is manual. You drive the mower around the perimeter with on-screen controls, then add no-go zones. Tom's Guide's reviewer spent about 20 to 30 minutes on a roughly 6,800 sq ft yard with a shed, playset and trampoline. Larger or more complex properties typically take 30 to 45 minutes.
How much lawn can the Lymow One Plus mow per day?
Lymow rates the 5A at 1.1 acres and the 10A at 1.73 acres per day, but those are daily figures across multiple charges. Per charge, expect about half an acre. TechAeris estimated real daily capacity at about 0.5 acre across cycles, well below the headline rating. Size with plenty of margin.
How heavy is the Lymow One Plus?
About 78 pounds, according to both Tom's Guide and TechAeris. That's roughly two to three times the weight of a typical wheeled robot mower. Tom's Guide said the box needed two people to move, so plan for help on delivery day and think about where you'll store it in winter.
