The Sunseeker V3 is a wire-free, camera-guided mower for small, simple lawns of about 0.15 acre. It needs no mapping, only a dock and an app. Reviewers praise how easy it is. They also say it can get stuck in dips and will not suit complex or large yards. Sunseeker’s US store lists it at $599.99 on sale from $999.99, as of 2026-10-12. Check today’s price.

Who the Sunseeker V3 is for (and who should skip it)

Trusted Reviews called it “exceptionally simple to use” and said it works very well in small gardens, while larger or more complicated layouts may prefer a mower using GPS for map building. TechReviewer said it excels at real user-friendliness: no wire, no complex mapping.

Skip it if:

Trusted Reviews says it drops in and sets up within minutes, using cameras to navigate and avoid plants. TechReviewer describes a binocular camera with a small wiper to keep the lens clear, and found there was no map to build. The kit in TechReviewer’s European test included magnetic discs and tape for multi-zone management and no-go areas. Check what your US box contains. Both reviewers say the app is basic, with no map view and no live camera feed (TechReviewer). See robot mower navigation explained and our setup guide.

Mowing performance, slopes and terrain

Consumer Reports lists a 42% maximum slope and TechReviewer’s test handled inclines to 22 degrees (42%). Both of the professional reviewers saw it get stuck sometimes. Trusted Reviews said it struggled in dips made by the reviewer’s cats digging, but tried forwards, backwards and turning manoeuvres instead of digging deeper. TechReviewer said it occasionally got stuck in small dips but always freed itself, and that tall weeds or overgrown curbs can confuse the camera. See best robot mower for hills.

Coverage, cutting and edges

Three razor blades on a disc cut an 18 cm swath in a random pattern. Consumer Reports lists an 8 in. width and a 1.6 to 3.2 in. cutting height. Trusted Reviews and TechReviewer both describe height set by a manual dial in 5 mm steps from 20 to 60 mm. TechReviewer measured about 65 minutes of real-world battery life, with a recharge of about 30 minutes before it resumes mowing. The edge results above are mixed.

App, connectivity and anti-theft

The app has start, pause, return to dock, a dedicated edge-cut button, edge distance, rain delay and a manual drive mode (Trusted Reviews). A PIN code is entered on the device (TechReviewer).

Ownership notes

  • Warranty. Consumer Reports lists 2 years on the mower and 1 year on the battery.
  • Maintenance. TechReviewer says blades replace with a Phillips screwdriver and the mower can be rinsed with a hose from below.
  • Review prices. Trusted Reviews tested at £1,015 UK RRP. Sunseeker’s US store lists $599.99. Check today’s price.

Bottom line

The V3 is among the simplest mowers to set up and a reasonable fit for a small, flat lawn. It is limited by size, dips, thin edge cutting and no tracking. For a more complex quarter acre, the S4 is a step up.
