# Roborock RockMow X1 LiDAR vs Segway Navimow i215 LiDAR (2026): Which Wire-Free Mower to Buy Before Spring?
Updated October 26, 2026 By [Robot Lawn Mower Guide Editorial Team](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/about/) [How we research](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/how-we-research/)

Prices are approximate and change often, so check the current price before you buy.

## Key takeaways

- Both are **wire-free LiDAR mowers with no RTK antenna**, so trees, fences and walls don't break their navigation. The real differences are drive, slope rating, area and price.
- The **RockMow X1 LiDAR is AWD with an 80% slope rating** and about half an acre of coverage. The **Navimow i215 is 2WD at 45%** and 0.37 acre (our data notes one source lists its slope at 30%).
- In our data the RockMow lists at **$1,999 to $2,299** and the i215 at **$1,399 to $1,599**. 9to5Toys reported on October 8, 2026 that Navimow's Fall Sale had the i215 at $1,329 against a $1,599 regular price.
- The RockMow is **new (July 2026 on Amazon) with no full independent long-term reviews**, and Roborock lists several features as coming in an over-the-air update. Edge trimming needs an extra-cost module.
- We have not verified any Black Friday 2026 offers. If your lawn is gentle, the i215 is the better value. If you have slopes, the RockMow's drivetrain is the reason to pay more.

Two LiDAR mowers sit close together in the 2026 lineup. The Roborock RockMow X1 LiDAR and the Segway Navimow i215 LiDAR both skip the boundary wire and the RTK antenna, and both are aimed at yards where satellite mowers lose their fix under trees and beside buildings. Past that they are different machines: one is all-wheel drive with an 80% slope rating, the other is a two-wheel-drive mower built for gentler lawns at a lower price. This comparison uses only the specs in our database, October 2026 listed prices and one dated sale report. We have not verified any Black Friday 2026 offers, so check today’s price before you buy.

## The 30-second answer

- **Buy the [Roborock RockMow X1 LiDAR](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GS17LYCH?tag=robotlawnmowerguide.com-20)** if your yard is up to about half an acre with trees, walls and real slopes, and you accept a new model with a thin track record.

- **Buy the [Segway Navimow i215 LiDAR](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G8DDG35Z?tag=robotlawnmowerguide.com-20)** if your lawn is up to 0.37 acre, shady and mostly gentle, and you want LiDAR for less money.

- **Buy neither** if your lawn is steep and large, or open and flat. See our [best robot mowers of 2026](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/best-robot-lawn-mowers-2026/) for the full ranking.

| Guide score | 8.3 / 10 | 8.4 / 10 |

Our research-based subscores split the same way. The RockMow scores 9.5 for terrain and 8.5 for navigation, with 7 for coverage and 7.5 for value. The i215 scores 9 for navigation and 8.5 for value, but 7 for terrain and 7 for coverage. The overall scores are almost tied, which tells you the choice comes down to your yard, not to one mower being better.

## How do they navigate?

Neither needs a base station, so the main trade-offs are about sensors and software, not setup hardware.

The RockMow X1 LiDAR pairs a 360 degree 3D LiDAR with VSLAM and what Roborock calls vision-LiDAR fusion for obstacle avoidance. With no satellite dependency, canopy and buildings should not matter. The caveat is in the fine print: our data says Roborock lists AI auto-mapping, obstacle-behavior modes, pattern mowing and multi-zone management as coming in an upcoming over-the-air update. Expect some of the headline features to arrive after you buy, and confirm what has shipped before you pay.

The Navimow i215 uses a solid-state LiDAR and a 140 degree camera. It is described in our research as one of the simplest setups of any mower, with automatic LiDAR mapping that is close to drop-and-go. The trade-off in our data is that edges and drop-offs may need map edits, so plan to watch the first few runs.

Our [navigation explained](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/robot-mower-navigation-explained/) guide covers why LiDAR has the advantage under canopy, and [robot mowers without a boundary wire](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/robot-mower-without-boundary-wire/) compares LiDAR with RTK and vision-only systems. If your yard is the awkward kind, our [best robot mowers for complex yards](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/best-robot-mower-for-complex-yards/) ranks both against the field.

## Terrain and slopes: the biggest difference

This is where the two split most clearly. The RockMow X1 LiDAR is all-wheel drive with a stated 80% slope rating, at the high end of the wheeled-mower class. The Navimow i215 is 2WD with a 45% rating, and our data notes one secondary source lists it at 30%. Reviewers cited in our research found 2WD machines exposed by slopes, wet ground and drop-offs, so we treat the i215 as a mower for gentle lawns.

Two cautions apply to both. First, manufacturer slope ratings assume dry, short grass and good traction, so real limits on wet or loose ground sit lower. Second, the RockMow’s rating has no independent testing behind it yet. Measure your steepest section with the [slope checker](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/tools/slope-checker/) and read our [slope limits guide](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/robot-mower-slope-limits/). If you have real hills, the [best robot mowers for hills](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/best-robot-mower-for-hills/) is a better starting list than either of these.

## Coverage and cut quality

The RockMow is rated for about half an acre per day (Amazon lists 0.49 acre). The i215 covers 0.37 acre. On listed prices that works out to about $0.09 to $0.11 per rated square foot for the RockMow ($1,999 to $2,299 over 21,528 sq ft) and about $0.09 to $0.10 for the i215 ($1,399 to $1,599 over 16,146 sq ft). So per rated square foot the two are close, and you pay more in total for the RockMow because you are buying the AWD hardware and the larger area.

Cutting height favors different lawns. The RockMow runs from 1.6 to 3.5 inches, which suits cool-season grass kept tall. The i215 runs from 0.8 to 2.8 inches and has motorized height adjustment, so it suits shorter cuts. If you keep warm-season grass short, the RockMow’s floor of 1.6 inches may be too high. If you keep tall fescue at 3 to 4 inches, the i215’s ceiling of 2.8 inches will not reach it.

Roborock does not publish a deck width or a noise level for the RockMow. The i215 has an 8.7 inch deck and a 59 dB rating. That is a gap in information, not a verdict, but you cannot compare noise directly.

## Edges and trimming

Both leave some work for a string trimmer. The RockMow’s optional PreciEdge module is said to reach 1.2 inches from borders. Without it, Techwalla estimates about 4 inches is left uncut, and US pricing for the module is unconfirmed in our data. The i215 trims flat borders but our data notes edges and drop-offs may need map edits, and a strip along vertical edges like fences and walls typically needs a trimmer. Neither is the pick if hands-off edges are your priority. For that, see our [ECOVACS GOAT vs Navimow comparison](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/ecovacs-goat-vs-segway-navimow/).

## Connectivity, security and ownership

Both have 4G. Our data lists a PIN lockout, an alarm and third-party tracker support for the RockMow, and 4G tracking with a geofence for the i215. The i215 includes one year of 4G, and our data flags a fee after that. Check the term and the renewal price on the listing before you commit. Our [theft protection guide](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/robot-mower-theft-protection/) explains what these features do.

A few ownership points:

- **Track record.** The RockMow launched on Amazon in July 2026 and our data says there are no full independent long-term reviews yet. Roborock is a major robot-vacuum brand, but this is its first US mower generation.

- **Weather.** The RockMow is rated IPX6. Navimow does not publish an IP rating for the US i215, so a garage or covered dock is worth considering.

- **Weight.** The RockMow is about 47.8 lb, so moving it up steps or into a shed is a real job.

- **Blades and edges.** Budget for blades and, if you want the cleaner finish, the RockMow’s edge module. Our [replacement blades guide](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/robot-mower-replacement-blades/) covers the cost side.

## Price: what do we actually know?

Listed prices in our data are $1,999 to $2,299 for the RockMow X1 LiDAR and $1,399 to $1,599 for the i215. Both moved recently:

- **i215:** 9to5Toys reported on October 8, 2026 that Navimow’s Fall Sale had the i215 LiDAR at $1,329 against a $1,599 regular price, which it called the lowest it had tracked. It was sold out at Amazon at the time, and the offer is now marked expired. That is about a $270 cut.

- **RockMow X1 LiDAR:** our data says it launched at an introductory price in July 2026 and has been discounted several times since. We do not have a dated figure we can cite, so we won’t give one.

We have not verified any Black Friday 2026 offers. Black Friday is November 27. Our [robot mower Black Friday guide](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/robot-mower-black-friday-deals/) shows what 9to5Toys reported in November 2025 and why a sale on your model is a bet, not a certainty. Judge any offer against the regular price and the model’s recent low, not the badge.

## Should you buy before spring?

If you can use the mower this fall, yes: mapping and testing now means the first mow of next year is just switching it on. If winter is close, buy when you are ready to store it properly. Our [fall buying guide](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/buy-robot-mower-in-fall/) covers return windows, storage and setup, and our [winter storage guide](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/robot-mower-winter-storage/) lays out each brand’s published steps. Do not borrow one brand’s battery-level advice for another.

Either way, size the mower to the lawn first. Our [size matcher](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/tools/size-matcher/) finds the cheapest model that covers your square footage, and [how to choose a robot lawn mower](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/how-to-choose-a-robot-lawn-mower/) covers the rest.

## Which should you buy?

### Buy the Roborock RockMow X1 LiDAR if…

- Your lawn is up to about half an acre with trees, walls and real slopes

- You want AWD and an 80% rating, with LiDAR and no antenna

- You can tolerate a new model, some features arriving by update and an extra-cost edge module

Skip it if your lawn is open (the RTK sibling [RockMow X1](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/mowers/roborock-rockmow-x1/) shares the chassis), if it is bigger than half an acre, or if you want long-term reliability data first.

### Buy the Navimow i215 LiDAR if…

- Your lawn is up to 0.37 acre, shady and mostly gentle

- You want simple, automatic LiDAR mapping at a lower price

- You are happy to add map buffers near drop-offs and trim some edges by hand

Skip it if your yard has real slopes or wet, rutted ground, since it is 2WD.

## Consider instead

- **[Dreame A3 AWD Pro](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/mowers/dreame-a3-awd-pro/):** LiDAR and AWD with an 80% rating and three coverage tiers, so you can match the size to the lawn. - **[Sunseeker S4](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/mowers/sunseeker-s4/):** the closest rival to the i215 for small, shady yards.

- **Small flat yards:** our [small flat yard comparison](https://robotlawnmowerguide.com/posts/small-flat-yard-mowers-yuka-mini-vs-navimow-i105n-vs-eufy/) may save you money.

## Bottom line

The two mowers share a navigation approach and differ in nearly everything else. The RockMow X1 LiDAR is the pick for a sloped, tree-covered half acre, with the caveats of a new model, features still coming by update and an extra-cost edge module. The Navimow i215 LiDAR is the better value for a gentler, shady lawn of up to 0.37 acre. Match the drivetrain and the area to your yard first, then compare today’s price with the regular price. We have not verified any Black Friday 2026 offers, so don’t wait on one you can’t count on.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the Roborock RockMow X1 LiDAR better than the Segway Navimow i215 LiDAR?
It depends on the yard. The RockMow X1 LiDAR has all-wheel drive, an 80% slope rating and a larger rated area (about half an acre against 0.37 acre), so it suits sloped, tree-covered lawns. The i215 is a 2WD mower rated at 45% for gentler terrain, and it costs less in our data. If your lawn is flat to moderate, the i215 gives you most of the same navigation for less.

### Do the RockMow X1 LiDAR or the Navimow i215 LiDAR need an RTK antenna or boundary wire?
Neither. The RockMow X1 LiDAR uses a 360 degree 3D LiDAR with VSLAM and vision-LiDAR fusion, and our data says no RTK. The Navimow i215 uses solid-state LiDAR with a 140 degree camera and no satellite antenna. Both also skip the boundary wire. Our navigation explainer covers why LiDAR holds up under tree canopy.

### How much do the RockMow X1 LiDAR and Navimow i215 LiDAR cost?
In our database the RockMow X1 LiDAR is $1,999 to $2,299 and the i215 is $1,399 to $1,599. The RockMow launched on Amazon in July 2026 at an introductory price and has been discounted several times since. 9to5Toys reported the i215 at $1,329 in Navimow's Fall Sale on October 8, 2026, sold out at Amazon at the time. Prices move quickly, so check the live listing.

### Which one is better on slopes?
The RockMow X1 LiDAR. It is AWD with an 80% rating, while the i215 is 2WD with a 45% rating (and one secondary source lists 30%). Manufacturer ratings assume dry, short grass, so measure your steepest section with our slope checker and leave a margin. If your yard has real hills, the i215 is the wrong tool.

### Do I get 4G and anti-theft on both?
Yes. Per our data the RockMow has 4G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with 4G tracking, a PIN lockout and an alarm. The i215 has 4G (one year included), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with 4G tracking and a geofence. Check what the i215 charges for 4G after the first year and what Roborock says about its 4G terms before you buy.

### Should I buy a robot mower now or wait for Black Friday 2026?
We have not verified any Black Friday 2026 offers. Navimow's Fall Sale already had the i215 below its regular price in October, and the RockMow has been discounted several times since July. If you can use the mower before winter, buying now lets you map and test it. If not, note today's price and compare it with any November offer. Our fall buying guide covers storage and timing.
